Meridian, one of Canada’s largest credit unions, knows that engaged employees lead to engaged customers and better business results. The challenge? Their previous engagement strategy was disjointed, manual, and hard to manage — and they knew there had to be a better way.

Meridian needed a simpler, more impactful way to recognize employees, boost engagement, and bridge the gap between great work and business results.

A unified approach to recognition

Their goal was clear: bring everything together in one platform, give managers the tools to recognize in real time, and tie every reward to what matters most — their people and their purpose.

In 2009, Meridian approached Achievers to consolidate their rewards and recognition platform. By January 2010, they launched iApplaudu@Meridian — an online, points-based recognition program designed to reward employees for displaying behaviors connected to the company’s brand promise.

What happened next sparked a major shift in engagement — scores grew 4% year-over-year. And that’s just the beginning.
